Suffolk Tax Bills Move Between Local and County Offices
Suffolk property-tax questions can start with town receivers, local assessors, or the County Comptroller depending on timing and topic.

Suffolk County property-tax routing is easy to mix up. Town, school, and county taxes are payable to town receivers through May 31. After that, payments go to the County Comptroller with penalty and interest. That means a current bill question usually starts with the local town receiver, while a delinquent payment question may belong with the county.
Assessment and grievance questions are a different lane again, usually tied to the local assessor.
Before mailing money, check the date, town, parcel or account number, tax year, and whether the question is about payment, value, exemption, or arrears. Through May 31, confirm the town receiver route; after that, confirm the balance, penalty, and interest with the County Comptroller. Keep the receipt with the bill.
