Onondaga Sheriff Reports Have a Records-Unit Route

After a crash or incident in Onondaga County, the paperwork can feel like a second errand after the bad day. The Sheriff’s Office gives the request route: reports can go through the Records Unit by mail or online, and there is a nominal fee. If a case is still open, the office says paperwork is not released until proper authorization is given.

For a mail request, the county asks for the DR or case number, the fee, a copy of valid photo ID, and a self-addressed stamped envelope. That plain list becomes important when an insurance adjuster, employer, landlord, attorney, or family member is waiting for the same document.
