Onondaga County’s DBA route starts with the County Clerk, not a town hall. Individuals or partners conducting commercial activity under a name that is not their given name must file a DBA certificate. Before filing an original DBA, the filer must review assigned business names to make sure the desired name is available. The county page covers original, amendment, and discontinuance filings and says forms can be filed in person or by mail if notarized.
