Schuyler Room Tax Still Wants the Report Trail

Schuyler lodging hosts should track room-tax quarters, platform collection by Vrbo or Expedia, and the report copy the Treasurer requests.

Schuyler County room tax has a platform detail that is easy to lose in the shuffle. Vrbo and Expedia began collecting and remitting occupancy taxes on April 1, 2025. For the fourth quarter, people renting through Vrbo or Expedia do not need to remit payment directly, but the office asks them to mail or email a copy of the quarterly report for recordkeeping.

That means a Watkins Glen weekend place, lake-area rental, or rural cabin should keep more than a payout screenshot. Save the platform, booking dates, quarter, guest charges, tax screen, and the report copy sent to the Treasurer.

The county posts four due dates: March 20 for December through February, June 20 for March through May, September 20 for June through August, and December 20 for September through November. A platform may handle the money, but the paper trail still helps a host answer a later county, accountant, buyer, or partner question without rebuilding the season from memory. This is especially handy around Watkins Glen weekends, lake-season bookings, and family cabins that are rented part of the year.
