Queens Exemption Renewals Need a Status Check
Queens homeowners with SCHE, DHE, STAR, veterans, clergy, or co-op and condo benefits should verify renewal mail and application status before the bill changes.

Queens homeowners who rely on a property tax exemption should check the file before a bigger bill arrives. NYC Finance has a status page for SCHE, DHE, STAR, Enhanced STAR, clergy and veterans exemptions, and co-op or condo primary-residency verification. A reviewed application can lead to approval, denial, or a request for more information. An approved benefit appears on a future bill.
SCHE must be renewed every two years and DHE every year. If mail is missing, use the Finance status page.
Keep the property bill, application or renewal, primary-residence proof, status result, request for more information, decision, and next renewal date together. Check a future bill to confirm that an approved benefit appears.
