A Norwich-area sole owner using a business name should start with Chenango County’s DBA page. Do that before printing a logo or opening a bank account. The current county fee list shows $25 for a new business name certificate and $25 for an amended certificate. It shows no fee to end the filing. Certified copies have their own fees.
A certified copy of the first or latest amended certificate must be displayed at the business. The County Clerk’s office is at 5 Court Street in Norwich. Search the name first. Then fill out the right certificate and complete the signature and acknowledgment steps. Bring or mail it to the clerk.
Keep the name search, signed form, acknowledgment, payment, filed record, and certified copies together. Display the required certified copy at the business.
