Nassau Assessment Grievances Run Through ARC

Nassau assessment grievances go through the Assessment Review Commission, or ARC. ARC reviews valuations set by the Department of Assessment and decides timely filed grievance applications. Nassau also directs eligible property owners to its online AROW system.

A Nassau homeowner should not assume the generic statewide Form RP-524 process works exactly the same way here. Open the ARC filing window and current appeal instructions with the assessment notice in hand.

If the owner is eligible to use AROW and the filing window is open, follow that Nassau route. If either point is uncertain, use the ARC instructions to identify the accepted filing route and deadline. Keep the assessment notice, tax bill, closing estimate, exemption status, evidence, filing confirmation, and ARC decision together. Missing the window can move the valuation question to a later assessment year, so treat the current date as part of the claim.
