Livingston DMV Has Two Offices, But Not the Same Transaction Menu

Livingston County lists Geneseo and Dansville DMV offices, with appointments encouraged and some transaction limits by office and time.

Livingston County’s DMV split is worth reading before choosing Geneseo or Dansville by habit. Geneseo operates at the Government Center; Dansville operates at North Dansville Town Hall. The hours differ. Appointments are encouraged, walk-ins are welcome, permit testing needs an appointment, Real ID and Enhanced transactions stop after 3 p. m. , and Dansville does not issue CDL licenses or conditional and restricted licenses.

Before leaving home, name the errand: permit test, Real ID, Enhanced ID, CDL, conditional or restricted license, title, registration, plate, or ordinary license transaction. Use the county timing for office choice, then use state DMV material for the exact proof list.

This is one of those errands where distance and eligibility are different questions. The nearest counter may not handle the transaction you need when you arrive with a folder of documents. Dansville can still be exactly right when the office limit matches the errand. Geneseo may be the better fit when the transaction falls outside the Dansville menu. That keeps the advice practical. DMV, Geneseo, and Dansville stay tied to the office, document, and timing that can move the errand along before another call or trip.
