Albany Residential Parking Permits Are a Clerk Errand

Albany residents in permit zones should bring license, registration, and the right payment method before applying at the City Clerk.

Published June 24, 2026 · Last verified June 24, 2026

Albany’s residential parking permit program is a practical detail that matters before a lease, move-in, or new job near a permit zone.

The City Clerk’s parking permit page says residential parking applications are available and that the office accepts new applications Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. It also says a valid driver’s license and vehicle registration are necessary at the time of application, and payment is cash or check only. The Parking Violations Bureau adds a useful enforcement point: parking in a permit zone without the permit is limited to two hours total per day in the zone, and moving the car does not restart the clock. Bring the documents before testing the rule.

Use the City Clerk page for the permit application and required documents. Use the Parking Violations Bureau route for a ticket or enforcement question. Keep the permit-zone address, driver’s license, vehicle registration, and cash-or-check payment plan together before going to the office.
